We have had a lot of inquiries by people asking, "what exactly is combined training?". So hopefully this will help to clear up the mystery. First of all, combined training is not a riding lesson, as the title may imply. It is really a show. The show consists of 3 "classes". The usual order of the 3 classes would be a Dressage Class first, cross country course second, and stadium jumping third. Generally in combined training, riders compete in divisions, depending on their age, and riding skills. Other than age and horse size, the biggest difference between divisions is the height of the jumps ranging from 12" (level 1) to 30" (level 3). Occassionally in combined training the courses are timed and riders must navigate the jumps in the most efficient way possible to get a good time. However we do not time the cross country course or stadium jumping so that riders can focus on safety, fun, and relaxation during the competition. That's not to say that we wouldn't add another division for those wanting the challenge of a timed course. The jumping classes are judged on a clean round (no refusals or downed poles). If you have further questions about the event or what combined training is, please feel free to email, we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
